The man of God had the opportunity to KILL the enemy
But he DROPPED his weapon; fooling around in the building
Doing a whole lot of negotiating and had no power
The building filled with people dancing and hollering
Yet the enemy STILL prowling
In a high place for every eye TO SEE him.
The barricades had been removed by BIG STRONG MEN in WARRIOR GARMENTS
And people were still trying to get in
They told us to flee BUT you stayed
Because they were now serving up some ice cream
NOW, I done got myself in a situation
Because I came back to get you…
YOU STAYED too long and didn’t even get to eat! Selah!
On the move, people begin to yield
To the enemy’s thrill
And they headed up the stairs to his hide-a-way
We left the building searching for a place to hide
One man told us to come in a house
But there wasn’t enough room for us to abide.
Wandering about, stranded vehicles and darkness everywhere
Here they are, only a few lights on, and they are not the ones
Trying to help us
I TOLD YOU keep walking, me, you and these babies
And a hand full of YOUNG LADIES
Gathering up three more children that were left behind
No men, women, or seasoned mothers to be found.
Crying and praying, “Lord, please let my momma be safe!
Lord, please let my momma be safe!
My own life was not guaranteed
Then he comes; ONLY ONE!
You think he is your friend
Because of how handsome he is
And the color of his skin
But he comes to you with a plunger in his RIGHT hand.
You’re getting excited saying, “Here comes help!”
I tell you to keep walking, don’t be talking
Because he IS NOT here to HELP YOU!
I was working hard to get him off me
With A SON in each arm
Here comes the plunge, to take the breath I breathe
And NOT ONE OF YOU turned back to rescue me
Like I rescued you” (Smith, Angela M. 2010).
